He and Charlie Engle co-founded the H2O Africa Project to help communities in Africa gain access to clean drinking water. It is their charity that is featured throughout the documentary Running the Sahara which Damon produced and narrated. The film follows Engle and two other men as they become the first to run across the Sahara. That’s over 4,300 miles which they completed (or did they?) in 111 days. According to ecorazzi that’s the equivalent of 170 marathons in a row (my math isn’t so good). That’s pretty amazing. I wouldn’t have lasted 111 minutes (which I could track on my Limited Edition Running The Sahara Chronograph ).
