Filed under: Activism , Climate Change Three dads will ride their bikes in a 300-mile ” Climate Ride ” from New York to Washington D.C. September 20-24 to raise money and awareness about climate change. Climate Ride bills itself as “the first multi-day bicycle ride to raise money and awareness for global climate change and renewable energy legislation.” The men will represent an organization called Climate Counts , funded by the organic foods company Stonyfield Farms. The cycling fathers include team leader Wood Turner, Ivan Gaviria, and Trey Pruitt. Each of the team members has already started changing the way they live in concern for climate change, and will add to that commitment with this long distance bike ride. Climate counts attempts to bring together consumers and companies who care about the environment in the fight against global climate change. The group provides scorecards so that consumers can analyze companies’ green credentials. The stoplight inspired images indicate whether a company is striding toward green values (green light), starting (yellow light) or stuck (red) in the effort to slow climate change. The company rates Nike highly (striding), while they call Apple “Stuck” and Kellogg “Starting.”   Permalink  |  Email this  |  Linking Blogs  |  Comments
