Even better, he has experience making “crazy” ideas commercially viable. So if he says he can turn scrubby island in the Caribbean into a luxury resort powered entirely by wind and sun , I believe him. Branson plans to make Mosquito Island, a part of the British Virgin Islands, the eco-friendly destination of choice for the uber-wealthy, with 20 villas and a beachfront restaurant. The villas will be cooled by the wind, the food will be organic and grown locally. Transportation will be biofueled. He didn’t mention it specifically, but I suspect that the sweetest blue birds on earth sing all day long, and the soothing sound of the surf will lull you into the best sleep of your life, each night. It sounds like some kind of paradise on earth. In light of all of the natural resources available to the island, Branson believes they can and should lead the world by example, showing that renewable fuel sources are even better than traditional carbon fuels. What a great argument, that you should pursue alternative fuel sources because they are more effective. Now that’s the kind of reasoning manufacturers and financiers can get behind. This guy is brilliant . We need more smart leaders like him, who understand the language of industry and persuasion. “We’ve managed to prove on paper and now we’ll prove in reality that the Caribbean could run with the determination of governments on Solar and wind,” Branson said. “There is no need to continue using dirty fuels.” Between this and his efforts to prove we can fly jets with biofuels , Sir Richard’s eco-karma is climbing higher every day!   Permalink  |  Email this  |  Linking Blogs  |  Comments
